These phones are a compliment to the Galaxy S line of smartphones, but offer very different things to consumers.

The latest of the Galaxy A phones is the A8. Samsung has advertised this phone is their thinnest phone ever, which is an impressive feat for how many goodies this phone has.

The Galaxy A8 measures just over half a centimetre (5.9mm), but has a metal bezel on the left and right side that narrows down to almost nothing.

Samsung’s hope is for the A8 to compete with other similar mid to high range smartphones from LG or Apple.

The Galaxy A8 is impressively constructed, but that doesn’t mean you won’t run into issues. Common problems with the Galaxy A8, and all smartphones in general, include:

  • Shattered, cracked or damaged glass on the screen
  • Discolouration, flickering or lines in the display
  • Glitches in the touchscreen, such as apps or other windows opening or closing on their own, or keys on the keyboard not responding
  • The display jumps or jitters back and forth
  • Part or all of the screen doesn’t recognize touch gestures, or other touch input
  • The display is very dark or completely turned off, even though the phone is on
  • The LCD looks like ink spots underneath the glass
  • Your Galaxy A8 doesn’t turn on, or won’t boot up fully
  • The phone doesn’t charge fully, or doesn’t charge at all
  • The battery in the phone loses power within a short period of time or doesn’t hold a charge once unplugged from the charger
  • There is no sound coming from the loudspeaker, ringtones don’t work, or you can’t hear phone calls in speakerphone mode
  • Headphones or headsets plugged into the headphone jack don’t work or don’t plug in properly
  • People can’t hear you or you can’t hear other people when making a phone call
  • The home button needs a lot of pressure to work, or doesn’t work at all
  • The fingerprint sensor in the home button doesn’t work, or only works sometimes.
  • The power or volume buttons don’t work
  • Your Galaxy A8 is showing error messages, such as “No Network Found”, or “SIM not detected”
  • You can’t connect to Wi-Fi or LTE networks, or the connection is very inconsistent/weak

These problems can make using a great smartphone like the Galaxy A8 a frustrating, stressful or even impossible task.

Why live with that hassle? Instead of trying to create or invent workarounds to avoid the problem with your phone, just visit the Techknow Space.

I was very impressed by the service at TechKnow Space. The staff are very friendly and really give the impression that they enjoy what they do for a living, and that they genuinely care about repairing your device.

I picked up my Samsung Galaxy Tab A6 yesterday, after dropping it off for repair last week. Originally I was looking at $169 for a new screen. The function buttons at the bottom of the screen weren't working, and the screen needed to be replaced as they are integrated into the screen itself and not manufactured as separate parts. Upon further diagnostics they realized that there was simply a problem with the communication between the screen and the motherboard, and not the screen itself. And I was told the repair would now only cost $69! Fantastic!

I was so impressed by the fact that they not only found the actual cause of the problem, but that they also informed me of it even though it meant less money for them. They could have easily charged me for the new screen and I would have had no idea. I highly recommend this location, and I will definitely return in future should I ever need to
