Data Recovery Center

The expectation of successful recovery:

1. Recovery is nearly always possible where files or photos have been deleted or the device has been formatted or initialized.
2. Recovery is often possible where files or photos have inexplicably vanished.
3. Recovery is sometimes possible where the device has sustained physical damage or has failed.

Tips you can follow to increase the likelihood of successful recovery of your files:

  • Do not save or attempt to save anything new to the memory card or device once you have realized files are lost.
  • If media is a card inserted into a device, remove it immediately, or if an external storage device, such as a USB drive, don't connect it to any computer or reader.

Fees and Charges:

  • Prices range from $79.95 to $299 upon successful or partially successful recovery
Price range is reflective of factors such as:
    • type of storage media
    • amount of data
    • reason for data loss or corruption
    • the extent of memory corruption
    • bench and host computer time to perform recovery
    • technician time and extent of hands-on work
  • $40.00 for time and effort should the recovery process be unsuccessful

Digital memory is a fickle mistress, and hindsight is 20/20. When your device crashes or stops working for whatever reason, often your first thought is, “OMG do I have everything important saved somewhere else?”

Backing up your important files is always a great idea – in retrospect. Everyone always thinks computer failures happen to other people, but no one is safe!

MY DEVICE IS NOT REPAIRABLE. CAN MY DATA BE SAVED?

A large portion of digital device malfunctions seems tragic when they happen, but they are still repairable. For the less fortunate devices that can’t be revived there is still a chance that not all is lost.

The likelihood that all of your data (such as important documents, photos, music, and other files) is still intact and ready to be retrieved is pretty good in the case of a logic board failure.

The logic board, sometimes called the mainboard or motherboard, is an essential part of the internal workings of your device. If one component of this board fails, the damage is repairable most of the time, but not always – in which case, the entire logic board would have to be replaced.

This board is a relatively expensive replacement, both in parts and labour, and not always worth it ($$$). Instead of shelling out the cash for a logic board service or replacement, you sometimes have the option of pulling all of the data from the laptop and moving on.

If your hard drive (the component that stores all your files) is in good working order, as is often the case with mainboard failures, backing up your data from the dead device is usually an option available to you.

I THINK I DELETED SOME OR ALL OF MY IMPORTANT FILES. HOW DO I GET THEM BACK?

If you’ve accidentally deleted files from your device or formatted the memory without backing up all your files first, data recovery is still possible for many situations.

The first thing you should do when you realize you’ve deleted something you shouldn’t have is to turn your device off. The more new files you create, the more likely are the chances your device will write new 1s and 0s on top of the old ones.

The best thing to do is to visit the Techknow Space. Our expert technicians have specialized software for all hard drives and other memory storage devices.

Software recovery has a high success rate in the TechKnow Space. Our specially trained technicians are dedicated to helping you find and retrieve all of your missing data.

I CAN’T FIND SOME OR ALL OF MY FILES ANYWHERE ON MY DEVICE, EVEN THOUGH I DIDN’T DELETE ANYTHING.

Hard drives work in complex ways, which means they can fail in complex ways as well. If you are mysteriously missing files, it doesn’t mean the data is gone forever.

By visiting the Techknow Space, you can increase your chances of rescuing your magically disappearing files and data. Our technicians are experts at software data recovery for all devices and file recovery.

Don’t delay – get your data back today!

Data Recovery for USB Memory

Its very convenient to carry around digital data in your pocket with a USB memory stick. Otherwise known as a thumb drive, memory stick or simply "a USB", given of how common they are. Digital life is good when we can carry stacks of documents on our keychain. Just when you needed to transfer some files with your trusty USB stick, it suddenly doesn't work! You can just pick up a new one, but what about that important file you had stored on there?

Is there any way to get that data back?

Yes, we can retrieve your important files! There are fewer components that make-up a typical USB stick; logic board, memory chips, USB controller and the USB jack. The data is ultimately stored in the memory chip, which is what we lose a connection to when it stops working. Some of the causes for this failure are as follows:

USB memory drive data recovery

  • Damaged circuits
  • Broken USB connector
  • Corrupted USB controller chip
  • Corrosion caused by liquid or moisture
  • Memory corruption
  • Physical damage

USB memory comes in a variety of packaging and memory size with different causes of failure. Since the solutions can differ the cost of repair ranges between $99 and $199 depending on the complexity and manual time taken for data recovery.

Most issues with USB memory sticks can be resolved via software. Logic board service solutions is necessary if the software methods are not possible.

Data Recovery for Memory Cards

Memory cards have come a long way since 1994 with larger memory capacity and smaller package size since the first memory computer memory cards, PCMCIA cards, were available on the market. We find them in use for containing storage in many of our portable devices, such as cameras, phones, tablets, digital picture frames, laptops, and more. Most often, they're used to store our photos, videos and other personal files.

Sd Memory card data recovery for phone and camera

The few components that make up a memory card are all integrated into a small package for easy storage and portability. There isn't any real possibility of troubleshooting when they stop working. If it goes it the right way and the data cannot be accessed then it needs to be taken in for recovery.

We know how important personal photos and videos are. When you bring us a memory card that's not working we take it upon ourselves to ensure a full recovery using the appropriate data retrieval methods for your storage media.

Memory cards are designated by format and represent the shape and in what devices they can be used: -Wikipedia

Laptop and Notebook Data Recovery

Until recently, all laptops used a standard 2.5 or 3.5 inch IDE or SATA hard disc drive for storage memory. Because of this standard, data recovery for all laptops was a generally similar procedure.

Today, memory storage standards have moved from hard disc drives to solid state drives, HDD and SSD, respectively. As a result, the methods and procedures for data recovery have become more complex to accommodate the changes in the new standard storage memory components.

Hard Drive data recovery can take between 2 hours and 2 weeks due to the following (among other) circumstances:

  • Hard drives typically contain a much larger volume of data than flash drives and memory cards.
  • They may develop and/or exhibit different and/or multiple problems
  • Sometimes data cannot be recovered because of a hard drive failure due to physical damage. This requires the hard drive to be repaired by a specialty or forensic data recovery laboratory before any recovery is attempted. These services for hard drive repair and data recovery can cost from $500 to $5,000, and take from one week to several months. We can recommend data recovery lab services if you need this service.

Data Recovery for Phones

We recover lost data for the following phone brands:

Have you done a backup?

We have all of our important contacts, pictures, emails, text messages, and snap chat screenshots stored on our smartphones. Probability-wise, you did not make a back up of your personal stuff. Procrastinating on this can be a problem if your phone breaks and there's no access to your stuff.

Don't feel bad, we can help with your lost phone data issue. Whether we need to recover your data as a result of liquid damage or physical damage, we have a solution. The first solution is to repair the phone so that you can go back to using it normally, thereby, giving you access to your stuff. The next option is to recover the phone data by storing it in another device or storage media. Whatever the issue you're having we're want to give you the best solutions you're looking for.

Connection of all your tablets, computers, phones and laptops to a central data server where they can be secure and stored for future access

If you are fortunate enough to have set up an iCloud account on your iPhone or Google account on your Android phone, then there is the chance that your data has already been synced on the cloud. This is an awesome new feature offered by Google and Apple that makes bearing the load on recovering data much easier. Simply log into your cloud account, which would be iCloud or Gmail, and check your automatically backed up content. If its there, no sweat! If not, then you'll need some help getting that info out of a broken or non-functioning device.

To avoid getting stuck in the future, it is our strong recommendation to set up an account on your phone that automatically syncs your personal files and documents. Whether you're near your office computer or far across the globe, having your data on a cloud server can be very convenient. If you don't feel comfortable keeping your stuff in the cloud or if cloud storage is getting to be expensive for the amount of data you have, then you'll need to be more diligent and do regular hard backups to your computer or memory storage media.

My data is not synced or backed up and I cant get to it through what can I do?

Data Recovery for iPads

Uh oh!  Just dropped my iPad and realized I hadn't synced my data - pictures, videos & documents.

There are many different situations that could prevent you from accessing your ipad and retrieving the data:

  • Dropped and broken
  • LCD or touchscreen failed and can't enter password
  • Internal failure
  • Submerged in liquid...

Before you panic - the first step is to log in to your iCloud account and check whether your most recent data is there:

- if so: stop reading now. - lol :)

- if not: panic! - JUST KIDDING ;) Getting data from a damaged iPad

If your important documents, priceless memories and favourite music are nowhere to be found your salvation is TechKnow Space.

Sometimes it is possible that the iPad is damaged to the extent that we restore access to the on-board storage, but in those situations where there is still hope (our technicians would only know - after sometimes extensive diagnostics), we will exhaust all avenues to retrieve your data.

That sounds complicated...is the cost astronomical?

Actually, the majority of our iPad data recovery service costs are

only $99 to $199!

Even in extreme damage situations (such as described below) we've been able to recover critical files around the $500 mark -- approximately $1000 less than data recovery lab fees.

See this iPad data recovery example:

An iPad that had been damaged by sugary liquids and left aside for a considerable length of time was brought in...

Here's a summary of the process we followed to retrieve this device's data:
(remember this is an extreme case and even though the data recovery was successful in this one it will not always be :)

First Step: Disassembly and removal of all circuit boards

Second Step: Thoroughly clean all liquid and corrosion from the boards in ultrasonic solution, then manually under microscopes

Now, we can try to get the mainboard to power up:

iPad disassembled for data retrieval

  • do some complex circuitry repairs on the logic board

  • replace the battery damaged by the liquid

  • replace a number of components damaged by corrosion,

...allowing the iPad to turn on.

The Data Recovery:

uploading iPad data to cloud

In this case the screen, (LCD and touch screen) were completely damaged by liquids, these too had to be replaced for us to be able to see the activity on the iPad.

Connect to our WiFi from the iPad

Install Google drive and upload all the photos & videos to it.

Periodically, we would have to disassemble the iPad and remove the battery in order to charge it externally as it would run down quickly due to irreversible mainboard damage. The iPad would then need to be reassembled after each charge to continue uploading the files.

Downloading recovered iPad data to a flash drive

Once the uploading completed (a total turnaround time of 2 days!!!) we were able to store the files on an external storage device.

Walk in anytime - no appointment necessary - and we will undertake to re-unite you with your lost memories, your precious videos, or your vital business information.
